Big Ideas, Real Impact.
Marty’s Orchid House is a licensed day program for preschoolers ages 2-5 with a diagnosis of Autism, overlapping health conditions, and developmental delays. Here are some highlights:
Marty’s Orchid House Program Overview
Enrolled children attend full-time, Monday through Friday in either our Morning session (8:00 AM - 12:15 PM) or Afternoon session (1:00 PM - 5:15 PM).
Marty’s Orchid House is a year-round program, including summer. We do not follow standard school schedules but are closed for major holidays and other periodic closures.
In addition to a diagnosis of Autism (or similar sensory processing disorder) a child must qualify medically and be covered under KY Medicaid to attend our program. Our dedicated enrollment staff will help each family determine if their child qualifies before moving forward.
Children are placed in a classroom that best meets their needs at a 3:1 child to caregiver ratio. Small classrooms have no more than 3 children, while larger classrooms have up to 6 children.
Enrolled children are evaluated for speech and occupational therapy services and begin receiving sessions during the day program based on therapists’ availability and approval by insurance.
Each day, enrolled children receive a head to toe assessment, medical care, and follow-through care by a nurse, which is documented in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Our Curriculum Care Coordinator develops and adapts classroom activities and lesson plans for each program session.
Parents and guardians are partners in their child’s care plan; staff communicates frequently with parents through the Brightwheel communication app, via phone call, and in person.
Parents are provided opportunities to coordinate with our staff and plan for their child’s graduation to well ahead of time, ensuring proper placement in a school or other program that meets special needs.
DISCLAIMER: Not every child will qualify for our services. Children must be able to safely attend our center at a 3:1 ratio without posing a significant risk of harm to themselves or peers. We do not provide 1:1 care or extensive behavioral services. Occasionally, a child may be dismissed before graduation if a higher level of care is required. In this event, our team will work with you on available options and next steps.
Comprehensive Services in One Program
Pediatric Nurse Care Coordination
Marty’s Orchid House is a licensed Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Center (PPEC) in Kentucky, offering skilled pediatric nurse care coordination. There is one nurse for every six (6) children in our center. Nurses not only provide hands-on care each day, they coordinate care with other specialists on a child’s multidisciplinary team, update a child’s Comprehensive Care Plan, and work closely with a child’s parent or guardian to create a village of support.
Therapy Services
With enrollment into our AM or PM day program, a child will receive priority placement on our wait list for speech and occupational therapy services. Depending on therapists’ schedules, a child may receive services right away, or may need to wait for an opening. Therapy sessions will be conducted during the day program, or at another agreed upon time.
It’s a pleasure to introduce our very special employee, Sunny Sunshine. Sunny is our certified therapy dog and furry child of one of our occupational therapists, Jessie. Sunny puts a smile on many faces each day and is an integral part of our therapy team!
